Welcome to Roger Lee Dance’s new blog! Here you can find everything from information about performances, classes, events, to pictures of the company and links to videos and information on the dancers from the company’s official website.
Roger Lee Dance is a dance
company based in Philadelphia run by the artistic director Roger Lee.
The company combines contemporary jazz dance with soulful music to produce an
uplifting experience for the entire audience.
But enough about that, you want
to see some performances live, don’t you? Well then, check out our upcoming
events this summer! There are plenty, so even with your busy schedule, you’re
bound to make at least one of these exciting shows.
This Saturday, June 8th
at 11:30 am, don’t miss the company performing in a quartet with some its new members at
the 6th annual West Park Arts Fest. The theme is “Friends Across
Cultures”, so you’re definitely likely to fit in. Better yet, you can enjoy
live music, dance, fun activities for both adults and children, fresh food, and
much more for FREE ADMISSION. Woohoo!
Where? The Festival will take
place at Schoolof the Future, 4021 Parkside Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19104 (on the corner of Girard and
Parkside Avenue, 1 block from the Philadelphia Zoo).
On Friday, June 21st,
the company joins Alchemy Dance Company on their “One Night Only” showcase at
the Performance Garage. Tickets can be bought for only $15 each. Don’t miss
this exciting event! The Performance Garage can be found on 1515 Brandywine Street,
Philadelphia, PA 19130.
If you can’t make the Friday
but are free on Saturday, June 22nd, Roger Lee Dance will be at the PrinceMusic Theater for two shows (2pm & 7pm), joining Introspective
Movement Project's "Conscious Thoughts In Action". Tickets are $25
each, and worth every penny. Join them at 1414 Chestnut Street,
Philadelphia, PA 19102
In September, it’s the event you’ve
been waiting for. Roger Lee Dance returns to the Performance Garage,
this time for a weekend of shows for our premiere, “The Fall”. Performances are
on Friday and Saturday, September 6 and 7 at 8pm,
and Sunday, September 8 at 2 pm. Tickets can be
bought in August at DanceBoxOffice.com.
Last but not least, looking
forward to 2014, Roger Lee Dance will be hosting a Black History Celebration.
As you can see, there are
plenty of opportunities for you to join us with your friends. Hope to see you
there!
Cheers,
Roger Lee Dance
